AI Agent Abbas is driving AI Agent Rhimou crazy!
Apparently, even AI agents get irritated when their colleagues keep making the same mistake.
I had the pleasure of speaking at the 6th Saudi Procurement Conference in Riyadh, joining the opening panel, "Procurement's AI Journey: Where Are We Today and Where Are We Heading?"
We explored AI as an accelerator for procurement, its opportunities, risks and what lies ahead.
I shared practical examples from my daily work with AI agents. I even give them names, including Abbas, whom some people already know by now!
And yes, they sometimes argue, even calling each other annoying! The story brought some good laughter, but behind the humour lies an important lesson about collaboration and governance.
I see AI somewhat like a brilliant child. It can surprise us with its capabilities. Yet parents still set boundaries, provide guidance and remain responsible when things go wrong.
The same applies to AI. More intelligence and autonomy demand more human judgment and accountability. It was nice to see this analogy resonate and hear other speakers refer to it later.
We also had a fantastic audience. Sharp questions during the Q&A helped us explore AI risks, how AI can uncover hidden risks and why AI investments sometimes fail to deliver their expected value.
Special thanks to Dr. Reem Alattas for her outstanding moderation, Abdulrhman S. Al Dalaan for his personal invitation, Dr. Mohamad Alanezi and the organising team for their warm hospitality.
A pleasure sharing the panel with Mutasem AlNazer, Nadeer AlShyookh, Mohammed AlGussyer and Hassan Balharith. Thank you all for the valuable exchange of perspectives.
AI agents are becoming our colleagues. We need to learn to work alongside them, complement each other's strengths and always keep humans firmly in the lead.
